The limited editions watches have become a trend now. Once upon a time, the limited edition was synonymous with “rare goods.” But since the 1990s, the situation has gradually changed, and many brands have released more and more limited editions. The motivation of the brand is simple. Just add a “limited” label to the watch, and you can sell higher price and get higher profits. Why not?
The most convenient way to make the limited edition is to modify the color or layout of the dial. For example, Omega has ever especially designed a Seamaster limited edition with red dial for Japanese market. Cartier released the similar models too. In the early of this century, Cartier released three pieces of Santos limited editions which were all featured the steel cases. It offered three versions with three different colors including the ice blue, pink orange and gray. All these steel cases copy Cartier watches were popular at that time.
Now some watch brands cooperated with some artists to create some models. Of course, they are limited editions. Nowadays, the limited editions are not rare any more. Omega released the Seamaster 007 series limited editions several years ago with a limited amount of 11007 pieces. Omega Seamaster fake with black dial has been called limited edition, but the quantity is really large.
